As you all know that Rajasthan is a very much interesting state of India not only in a single aspect but in every aspect you can see that this state is having a varied heritage and also this state has proved its beautiful in many aspect so in this blog we are going to explore that one beautiful place of this state that is Adhai Din ka Jhonpara which is located at the city Ajmer where the famous Daraga of Ajmer is also made and you can also check out that blog .

Now the Adhai Din ka Jhopara is one of the oldest mosques in India, and the oldest surviving monument in Ajmer.

Now let us talk about the history of this beautiful mosque located in Ajmer

History

Originally a Sanskrit college with a temple of Saraswati within it, it was converted into a mosque by Qutb-ud-Din-Aibak, on the orders of Muhammad Ghori, in 1192 CE. The structure was completed in 1199 CE, and was further beautified by Iltutmish of Delhi in 1213 CE. So basically this was the temple which was converted to mosque later on.

“Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra” literally means “shed of two-and-a-half days”. Alternative transliterations and names include Arhai Din ka Jhompra or Dhai Din ki Masjid. A legend states that a part of the mosque was built in two-and-a-half days . Some Sufi claim that the name signifies a human’s temporary life on the earth.

About this place in short terms

It is actually a Masjid built by Qutub-ud-Din-Aibak, first Sultan of Delhi, in AD 1199 contemporary to the other one built at Qutub-Minar complex of Delhi known as Quwal-ul-Islam mosque (power of Islam). Sultan Iltutmish had subsequently beautified it in AD 1213 with a screen pierced by corbelled engrailed arches which appears in this country for the first time. However, a large number of architectural members and sculptures of temples are lying inside the verandah of the complex for safety and security purposes by the department which shows the existence of a Hindu temple in its vicinity during circa 11th-12th Century AD. This mosque, built from the dismantled remains of temples, is known as Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra possibly from the fact that a fair used to be held here for two and a half days.

Rajasthan is one of the most beautiful state of India. You can take any filed whether it is about the culture, hospitality, food, heritage place, royalness, its fort or making history. There were many warriors which made us fill proud that we are living on the land free from the people who ruled on us. One such place where the history was made by Maharana Pratap was Chittorgarh. It is the place where the most precious chapter of the history of Rajasthan was written so let’s start:-

So Now let’s see some history and facts of the historical monument:-

The Chittor Fort is one of the largest forts in India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is said that this fort is one of the most powerful forts the history as it as tolerated many attacks.
The fort is known for its seven gates namely Padan Gate, Ganesh Gate, Hanuman Gate, Bhairon Gate, Jolla Gate, Lakshman Gate and the main gate which is named after Lord Ram.
It is also the fort which is ruled by many rulers like the king of Mewar, Paramara dynasty, Alauddin khilji, Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujrat and at last the king of Sisodia vansh Maharana Udai Singh which later acquired by Akbar of Mughal dynasty.

Now let’s discuss the Conquest of Alauddin Khilji
The fort remained with the rulers of the Guhila dynasty for a long period of time until 1303, when the ruler of Delhi Sultanate Alauddin Khilji decided to capture it. He took over the ownership of the fort from King Ratnasimha after a siege that lasted for about eight months. This conquest is associated with massacre and bloodshed as many believe that Alauddin Khilji ordered the execution of more than 30,000 Hindus after capturing the fort. Another famous legend states that the fort was captured by Khilji in an attempt to force Padmini, the queen of Ratnasimha, into an extramarital relationship. This motive of Khiljiis said to have resulted in the mass self-immolation (Jauhar) of Chittorgarh women, led by Queen Padmini. A few years later, Alauddin Khilji passed on the fort to his son Khizr Khan, who possessed it until 1311 AD.

1.Vijay Stambha
Vijay Stambha was built by Rana Kumbha in 1448 to celebrate his victory over Mahmud Shah I Khalji. The tower is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The slabs in the uppermost part of the tower contain a detailed genealogy of the rulers of Chittor and their deeds. The fifth floor of the tower contains the names of the architect, Sutradhar Jaita, and his three sons who helped him build the tower. The remarkable religious pluralism and tolerance practiced by the Rajputs are clearly visible in the victory tower. The Jain Goddess Padmavati sits at the topmost story, while the third story and the eighth story have the word Allah carved in Arabic

2.Rana Kumbha’s palace
The palace once served as the main residence of Rana Kumbha and is one of the oldest edifices within the fort. Rana Kumbha Palace is situated inside the Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan. It is located near the Vijay Stambha close to the entrance gate. The ruins of the once famous palace have the temple of Lord Shiva, Zanana Mahal, Diwan -e -aam, along with a stable for horses.

3.Padmini Palace

Just between Kalika Mata temple and nagchandreshwar Mahadev temple in the direction of south, visitors can see a large and beautiful palace related to princess Padmini and first (johar) in the world. This palace is called Padmini palace or Padmini mahal. The building near to water source is very well maintained. After entering the main gate of the building we can see good garden having lots of roses. The other building which was a separate living place of rani Padmini is in water. This whole area of Padmini palace shows us the biggest and unique history in the world.

4.Kalika Mata temple

Kalika Mata Temple is an 8th-century Hindu temple located within the Chittor Fort in the Chittorgarh municipality of Rajasthan state in India. The upper parts of the structure are more recent. It predates Maharana Pratap and has thousands of visitors every day.

The Monsoon Palace:-

This one is my personal favorite place and a must-visit place and especially in the monsoon time.

The Monsoon Palace is also known as the Sajjan Garh Palace. It is located on a hilltop and built by Maharana Sajjan Singh. As the name tells us actually the fort was built to watch the monsoon cloud. All people love to come here in monsoon season.

Fateh Sagar Lake:-

This is one of the best places to visit in Udaipur. People love to come here and enjoy the beauty of the lake. Fatah Sagar lake consists of three islands and one of the best lakes in Rajasthan. This is an amazing place to spend the evening and I will suggest you drink the cold coffee to keep your mind calm and drop down your problems at this lake.

The lake is also famous as Mahatma Gandhi ji’s ashes were immersed here leading to the construction of Gandhi Ghat. There are many hotels, restaurants, and motels located here with very cheap street food so you don’t have to worry about the food and also it is the best destination for photography and boating zorbing and relax in the garden so I would recommend you to visit this place.

5. Sunset point

Now, this is the destination for the people who love sunset very much this place is very much famous for the sunset in Mount Abu. The view of this sunset from Aravalli hills is amazing and what more you need then a relaxing place and sunset. This point is also shooted in Bollywood movies and you will fall in love with this view.

Haunted hotel BRIJRAJ BHAWAN PALACE with a mysterious history

Today we are going to travel to one of the most haunted hotels in the world which is located in the beautiful city of Rajasthan famous for the collection of institutions Kota. So keep reading this blog and enjoy the mystery of the hotel and the history and mystery behind that why the hotel is considered to be one of the most haunted. First, let me show you some photos of the hotel which will not make you believe that this beautiful hotel can also be haunted. (Actually, these are screenshots)

See it how beautiful is the palace like the other heritage places in Rajasthan but the people don’t know the mystery behind this haunted palace. Don’t worry I have found the history and the mystery behind this Bhawan.

SO let’s SEE THE STORY
This story starts from the year 1857 when the country India was under British rule. This palace was the home to Charles Burton, is a heritage hotel today but is rather infamous for being a haunted property The story goes that Major Burton was killed here by Indian sepoys during the mutiny of 1857. He was holed up in one of the upper rooms with his two sons as they looted the palace and then they surrendered after five hours of the siege. The soldiers killed all of them and later the British buried their bodies in the Kota cemetery with full military rights. The British also reclaimed this property which later became the property of the Maharaja of Kota. But in the ’70s, the government renovated it and it became the Brijraj Bhawan Palace Hotel.
Now there was a point that soon the people near the village of Kota came to know about the palace that the palace is it was haunted by the ghost of Major Charles Burton. Even though his spirit does not really harm anyone, guards working here have often heard a man’s voice speaking in English and commanding them to not fall asleep or smoke. And if they do fall asleep on duty, the ghost even slaps them to wake them up. This incident has happened with quite a number of guards. Though guests haven’t had much of a problem here, some have complained of feeling a sudden discomfort in some parts of the palace hotel.
That was a lovely ghost of Major which did not harm anyone but how can we trust a GHOST now the question arises whether if you got a chance to stay a night at the hotel then you will try this adventure or not tell me in comments and also tell me that how was the blog. The same goes for the temples of the state. You can find magnificent temples around the state famous for beauty, rituals, and pilgrimage. So in this blog, you are going to explore the most beautiful temple full of rich architecture and amazing facts about the temple and also the history of the temple.

History

let us know the history of this beautiful temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple was built in 1988. The temple’s beauty is famous for its marble architecture and modern architectural elements and statues. Birla Family has taken the work of building several marble temples around the country. The land of the temple belonged to King of Jaipur, who donated it to Birla Family at the cost of one rupee (1 INR) for the purpose of building this temple. Can you believe that the land cost them only rupee 1 only isn’t it interesting? I was rather thinking that this temple land would have cost in crores but now I know that it only cost rupee 1.

About the temple : –

Jaipur, famous for its forts, palaces, monuments, and heritage history, houses one of the finest temples in the country. The temple was constructed with white marble and seems to be enveloped in serenity by the Birlas in 1988, who is responsible for constructing many other famous temples in India. The temple is an abode to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. For this reason, the temple was formerly known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple.
The land on which the temple was built was given by the Maharaja to the Birla for a token amount of just one rupee.
The temple has three domes which reflect three approaches to religion. The most significant part of the temple is the stunning idol of Lakshmi Narayan, carved out from a single piece of stone. The other idol, an artist’s wonder, is of Lord Ganesha.
The interiors of the temple are adorned with mythological paintings of various Hindu deities. There is a large marble console which depicts all mythological events. The outside of the temple is as beautiful as its interior with steps to the temple, which are also made out of marble. There are various sculptures and images of various deities that add a different charm to the whole place, including various pictures of great legends, philosophers and achievers like The Socrates, Christ, Buddha, and Zarathustra.

Temple Timings: Every day opens at 8:00 am and closes at noon 12:00 pm. In the evening again, the temple opens at 4:00 pm and closes at 8:00 pm.

NOW WE ARE GOING TO KNOW THE HISTORY OF THIS FORT

History and Legend

Nahargarh Fort was commissioned in the year 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. Placed on the lofty Aravalli Hills, the fort was a retreat palace for the ruler. Nahargarh and Jaigarh fort are connected to each other through their extended ramparts.

There is also a legend connected to the fort. It is believed that the fort was cursed by the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia, a Rathore prince. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh found this property which once belonged to the said prince and the Maharaja thought about raising a fort here. But, the spirit of the prince was not happy with the idea. Nevertheless, the construction started. The part of the construction that was done in the morning was found completely destroyed the next day. When Maharaja Sawai Singh came to know of this, he built a small fort inside the premises of the fort and dedicated it to the prince. Later on, a small temple was also built here. The prince’s spirit was now happy.

5 fascinating facts about Jaipur’s 18th-century masterpiece:-

1. Although the 700-ft-high Nahargarh fort was mainly built to strengthen the defense of the city, it never came under attack. It did, however, witness some important historical events like the agreements with the Maratha forces which invaded Jaipur in the 18th century.

2. Since there were no invasions either by the armed forces or the Mughals, the field guns at the Nahargarh fort were used to indicate the time by firing time signals.

3. During the Indian Mutiny of 1857, several Europeans were moved to Nahargarh fort by the king of Jaipur, Sawai Ram Singh, for their protection.

4. Some scenes of famous Bollywood flicks like Rang De Basanti and Jodha Akbar have been shot at the Nahargarh Fort.

5. The most astonishing part of the Nahargarh Fort is the Madhavendra Bhawan which possesses 12 identical suites constructed for the use of royal women. Hallways connect the suites and rooms to each other with gorgeous frescoes in the interior. The Women quarters were set up in a way that the Maharaja could pay a visit to any queens room without other queens knowing about it.

Nahargarh Fort is also believed to be haunted yes the fact is true that the fort is haunted because the spirit of the prince Nahar Singh Bohima roamed about the palace and hindered the construction of the Fort. Then it was Swami Jai Singh who promised to the prince to build the temple dedicated to the prince Nahar Singh to appease the ghost. After this deal of making the temple, the construction of the fort went smoothly.

Cycling and trekking can be easily done to make your trip more adventures. Also, you can visit the Nahargarh biological park if the fort is boring to entertain you.

There is a small temple of Shiva and viewpoint on the Chambal river. Garadia Mahadev is situated at an altitude of approximately 500 feet from sea level. There are an approximately 300 feet deep gorge through which Chambal river is flowing. There are gigantic cliffs on either side of the gorge. Chambal takes a Horseshoe Bend here.

This bend and deep gorge with a river flowing in it make it an excellent viewpoint. At an altitude of around 500 feet from mean sea level, lies a gorge through which runs the river Chambal. Gigantic cliffs lie on either side of the gorge. The winds blowing seem to be chanting the Shiv stotras in your ears to arouse the feeling of devotion in you. Garadia Mahadev Temple lies on one of the cliffs. The rituals are performed by a local priest who generally stays in the shrine till around 5:30pm. Late nights are not recommended. The place is picture perfect like a painting made by God himself. You can actually realize the bliss of solitude by sitting here for some time. The place has served many as a spot for a picnic. The largest tributary of Yamuna, river Chambal is known for being the abode of many water species. Sitting on a cliff you may catch a glimpse of the crocodiles, turtles, etc.

EXPERIENCE BY THE VISITOR

My search for visiting lesser known places lead me to Garadia Mahadev near Kota. Like most of the other people, I came across Garadia Mahadev when I saw the commercial of Rajasthan tourist on the Idiot box. Even before visiting Garadia Mahadev temple, I knew that it will be not as colorful as it looked in the commercial. It was obvious that they have enhanced the colors but I must admit that this place struck a chord in my heart when I saw it in real. Garadia Mahadev is a unique place. There is no other place like this in India as much as I know. It is peaceful and untouched by human development. Many people compared and wrote that it’s “India’s Grand Canyon”. Sorry but I refuse to accept this comparison, why we have to compare interesting Indian places with international places to boost their rating. Every place is unique and any kind of comparison does injustice to another place.

What to do in Garadia Mahadev?

At the end of the road is an open space, where we parked our car. The viewpoint of Garadia Mahadev is just opposite the parking area. You don’t need to walk to the viewpoint. To go to Garadia Mahadev temple, we first walked a few meters on flat stones and then we climbed down a flight of stairs. There was small open space, where Langoors and monkeys were sitting on trees & boulders. From there we climbed down another flight of narrow stairs and reached the temple is very small. Next, to the temple a small water stream coming down from a hole in stones and we could not identify or guess it’s the location. Its water was lukewarm even in the month of December.

How much it cost for a day trip to Garadia Mahadev temple?

Taxi from Kota to Garadia Mahadev temple will cost 700 to 800 INR. We did a taxi from Kota for 1200 INR and after visiting Garadia Mahadev, it dropped us in Bundi.

The Garadia Mahadev temple is situated in Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve so there is an entry ticket.

Entry ticket per person is 75 INR for Indian, 500 INR for Non-Indian citizens and 20 INR for students.
Entry fee for car/Jeep is 250 INR, 400 INR for bus and 30 INR for a two-wheeler.

Mehrangarh Fort holds the pride of place in Jodhpur because of its splendid architecture and the diverse history associated with it. Considered as one of the most formidable and magnificent forts of Rajasthan, Mehrangarh fort was built by Rao Jodha in the year 1459. The fort is spread over an area of 5 km and is built on 125 m high hill in the outskirts of Jodhpur city. There are seven gates, which can be used to enter the Mehrangarh Fort. These 7 gates are made by different rulers and are built in honor of the victory over Bikaner and Jaipur armies. One can see the panoramic view of the Jodhpur city from this fort, which seems like a blue carpet laid at the foot of a hill. Every ruler of Jodhpur has contributed in the making of this fort. Within the fort, one can see the magnificent palaces. The main palaces located in the Mehrangarh Fort are Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Zenana Dude, Takht Vilas, and Jhanki Mahal. There are also two temples located inside the fort – Chamundi Devi Mandir and Nagnechiaji Mandir dedicated to Goddess Durga and the Kuldevi respective.

Jodhpur

Jodhpur is one of the largest cities of India and the second largest of Rajasthan. Visiting Hours

Mehrangarh Fort is opened for the public from 9am to 5pm. The fort is also opened on government holidays. It takes around one to three hours to visit the whole fort due to the presence of many structures inside it.

Tickets

Tourists have to pay an entry fee in order to visit the fort. For Indians, the cost of the ticket is Rs. 60 while for foreigners it is Rs. 400. Photography and video recording are also allowed and the tourists have to pay Rs. 100 for carrying still camera and Rs. 400 for a video camera. The day of 12^th May is celebrated as Jodhpur Foundation Day and entry in the fort is free on this day.

Best Time to Visit

Best time to visit Jodhpur is from October to March as the weather is pleasant. During the period of April to June, the weather of the city is hot and dry while during the period of July to September, the weather becomes hot and humid. There is low to moderate rainfall in the city.

By Air

Jodhpur has a domestic airport which is around 5km away from the city. Flights to Jaipur, Delhi, Udaipur, and Mumbai can be taken from here. The nearest international airport from Jodhpur is Sanganer Airport in Jaipur and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

By Train

Jodhpur is connected to many major cities through the train. There are direct trains to Kolkata, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Jammu, and other places. No Rajdhani, Shatabdi Double Decker, or Garib Rath Express run from here but super fast and fast mail and express trains start, terminate, and pass through the city.

By Road

Jodhpur is well-connected to the nearby as well as cities in other states through road transport. Tourists can catch buses for their destination from Rai ka Bagh Bus Stand which is near to the Rai ka Bagh Railway Station. Besides these, tourists can also catch buses operated by public and private bus services. Another option to come to and go from Jodhpur is taxi which the tourists can hire from taxi operators.
